Why is Virtualmin going commercial?
Written by Joe CooperBecause it's the right thing to do for Virtualmin users. Though we may not yet have the perfect formula for building an Open Source and a proprietary product side by side, it became clear that in the old model (no one reliable company responsible for supporting Virtualmin) many of our users were not getting the kind of support and ease of use they wanted. We're making Virtualmin our number one priority from here on out, and already the results are too numerous to recount here. We've added dozens of new features, some small and some huge; we've written a new administrators guide that covers everything a hosting server administrator needs to know; we've created a new website with forums, a support ticket tracker for paying customers, a bug tracker for everyone, and dozens of Quick Start guides, FAQs, video tutorials; and we expect we'll be able to spend significantly more time working on both the Open Source and the proprietary versions of Virtualmin in the future.
