Dovecot on RHEL 3 2006/01/07 07:50
You had said in the previous thread you would try to wrap up a package for doveccot on RHEL, any progress? I was able to go back to imapd for the time being (with lots of problems) but I would really like to get this going....

I'm not sure what Joe's status is on this, but in the meantime you can try one of the dovecot packages from the DAG repository:

http://dag.wieers.com/packages/dovecot/

They are usually pretty high quality, and they do have releases for RHEL 3.

Thanks for that suggestion, that's a great site and link. I have also contemplated just building from source, but after examining the default setup of dovecot, it appears that things are somewhat modified in the virtualmin setup in terms of directories and permissions, and I'm concerned that installing a generic dovecot version would screw things up even more. I don't really have any access to what kind of modification I would have to do to the dovecot install to make it play nicely with virtualmin, but I would be more than happy to try. It took me hours to make imapd play nicely, and I still have some issues, so hopefully Joe can give us some direction and save lots of time and antacids...
