Pre-Purchase License Question 2007/05/31 14:26
Hi,

I currently use virtualmin gpl, but since I will be rebuilding my server soon, I am thinking of purchasing virtualmin pro. However, I think I need clarification with regards to the license.

When I purchase virtualmin pro, is the license a yearly license that must be renewed each year? Or is it more like Plesk, in that the license is good forever, just that free software upgrades stop after a year?

Since I am only running personal hobby websites, and not conducting any commerce, having this clarified will help me decide whether to stick with gpl, buy a 10 site license each year, or buy one unlimited license every 3-4 years.

Why does my real name show, and not my screen-name? I'll be changing that.

I'm sure Joe will give you a definitive answer.

But as I understand it, if you buy a 1 year licence, you get free updates and patches for the 1 year. At the end of the one year, your server will still run as normal. The only difference is, you don't have access to the updates and patches. The downside to that is your server may be open to security risks if the need arises and you don't patch it.

VMpro is still in Early Adopter (EA) period, so the licence fee is not too expensive (yet?). Oh common, it costs less than what you'd spend at McDonalds for 1 year for sure. ;-) Pick up the credit card from your wallet and purchase a VMpro licence straight away (store link above). Joe says he will add one additional year to your licence at the end of the EA period. What more do you want?

By the way, I am not Virtualmin's VP Sales and Marketing. Just another VMpro customer. *really* ;-)

Cheers.
