How do I update apache from virtualmin? 2006/04/20 10:25
I see that there are updates for apache for my suse 10 but the apache is locked, so where do I download the correct updated version for my virtualmin install, and how do I install it?

SOrry, I've forgotten.

Hey Adam,

You should be able to just run:

yast -i apache2

I think. Maybe. I seem to recall you had some trouble with "locked" packages earlier...but I, too, am unsure what was done to resolve it. It's not something we do during our installation--I wouldn't even know how to "lock" a package, as it isn't a standard RPM feature.

Just as joe stated, that whole lock issue isn't a V/Wmin problem. Using webmin to update a RPM is giving people that are use to using a normal OS to start a software update download, but instead of having the patience being that many RPM are hosted on public server the time that is needed they refresh the webmin GUI and... their "locked". The download(s) has started so it locks the file so that the download can be interrupted or overwritten by accident. You need to locate your .urpmi and delete it.

Look up urpmi database locked on google and you find plenty of references to it.
