Adding Hostname in BIND. 2005/10/25 03:34
Hi.

Here is the problem. My machine is named
alpha.something.com

I added alpha.something.com to the virtual server thru virtualmin. Now i added

alpha.something.com as an ADDRESS record, with the IP of my machine.

Why doesnt it work ? When i put alpha.something.com it doesnt do anything and gives me website not found etc. Although on the same note, the other address records like
mail.something.com
ftp.something.com
www.something.com
ns1.something.com
ns2.something.com

all work fine.

On a further note, the hostname of the machine is already set to alpha.something.com in the network configuration so that works fine.

Any ideas ? My Basic intent is to name my webserver alpha and then have my ISP update the reverse records for it too. So that i can access the webserver with alpha.something.com

Thanks.
Faisal Mehmood.
