Hello

I can not access on webmin anymore. My OS is Redhat 4 AS Enterprise.
Installed is Webmin with virtualmin.
The usermin interface wirh port 20000 works. But when use port 10000 nothing happens.

With /etc/init.d/ ./webmin stop I receive the following message:


Stopping Webmin server in /usr/libexec/webmin
cat: /var/webmin/miniserv.pid: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden
kill: usage: kill [-s sigspec | -n signum | -sigspec] [pid | job]... or kill -l [sigspec]

When start the webmin with /etc/init.d/ ./webmin start then I did not get any error.

Could you please advice how to make forward here?
We did not changed any firewall coniguration. This hs worken until some weeks ago.

if I recall correctly, would
/etc/webmin restart
do anything?

thanks for the response. Unfortunately it does not help.
I changef to /etc/webmin and then used the command

./start
Then I receive the following:

Pre-loading bind8/web-lib-funcs.pl
[root@lsmacap webmin]#

But it still the same. No answer. I used on he same server the following: http://localhost:10000 No reaction
http://localhost:20000 works gut.

When I use[root@lsmacap webmin]# ./stop
then I get the followin error:

Stopping Webmin server in /usr/libexec/webmin
cat: /var/webmin/miniserv.pid: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden
kill: usage: kill [-s sigspec | -n signum | -sigspec] [pid | job]... or kill -l [sigspec]

Anything in the Webmin logs? (There are a couple of different log files in /var/webmin...miniserv.error and miniserv.log are probably the useful ones.)

Note that a PAM error is harmless (just means you don't have the PAM perl module installed).

I'm surprised you're trying to connect on http, as well. Why aren't you running Webmin encrypted on https? (It requires a Perl module Net::SSLeay to be installed, but really it's not a great idea to run a system administration tool unencrypted--lots of sensitive data, like your root password, gets passed back and forth between your browser and Webmin. You want that sort of thing to be encrypted.)

So you've already got something running on port 10000. Probably Webmin. ;-)

Try killing all of the miniserv.pl processes:

/etc/webmin/stop
/etc/usermin/stop
killall miniserv.pl

(We're stopping Usermin, too, because killall is going to take it out anyway, so might as well shut it down clean.)

Then start them back up.

It did not help.
