Problems wiht fighting spam with spamassasin

Hi,

I have 2 virtual servers now, both of them use same default spam-assassin settings. For first virtual server everything works great, there is almost no spam. For second virtual server though with same default setting spam just pours in - not for all e-mail user though. Any ideas for how to fix this ?

Also, spam is just coming to incoming folder - although I have "Write to standard spam file ~/mail/spam" checked in spam and virus delivery..

Thanks

First off, if you haven't already, I might suggest enabling greylisting, which can make a huge difference on the amount of spam getting through. You can do that in Email Messages -> Email Greylisting.

Next -- as far as your second domain is concerned, I'd verify in the email headers of the emails being received have a X-Spam-Status, which shows that it's being processed by SpamAssassin.

You can also use Usermin to train SpamAssassin as to what email messages are spam and ham.

Lastly, by default, the mail directory is ~/Maildir -- and spam would go in ~/Maildir/.spam.

If you aren't seeing spam in the spam folder, try setting it to that, rather than the "~/mail/spam" you had mentioned.

How can I do that ?

By adding filters ?

The X-Spam-Status is a header, you'd look in the email headers to do that (how, exactly, depends on your email client).

For Usermin -- there's buttons when you're viewing your mail, for "Spam" and "Ham".
