OpenVZ Installation of Virtualmin Failing on Mount

I've been having trouble installing Virtualmin and have discovered that it is probably due to the fact that the hosting provider is using OpenVZ rather than Xen, hence no swap partition.

I understand that Jamie has been able to install Virtualmin on OpenVZ. Do I need to purchase Virtualmin Pro? If so, I'll do it gladly since I've spent days on this now.

Howdy,

Well, if there isn't enough RAM for the installer to run and complete the installation -- even if Jamie does manage to coax it into working, that won't be the end of the problems you're having :-)

The issues will only get worse as users begin using your server to access websites and send emails all while cron jobs are running in the background.

The systems Jamie installed this onto had enough RAM for the installer to finish though...

If you're getting memory related errors, rather than finding someone to squeeze Virtualmin onto your system, my suggestion would be to either get more RAM, or perhaps use an alternative VPS that offers swap.

You're of course welcome to purchase Virtualmin Pro, and with that comes a level of support where we'll log into your server and offer installation assistance. However, there's an excellent chance that we'll simply end up saying this same thing -- that there's just not enough RAM for the Virtualmin stack to run :-)

I think your money would be better spent purchasing enough RAM that the installer runs without hitting memory constraints.

Well, 32GB of RAM should obviously be enough... however, if you're getting out of memory errors, something isn't working right, and you're not really being given access to the RAM it claims is available.
