question on logs

Hi,

Looking in the apache error logs I have these same things over and over probably thousands of times. Is there something i can do to correct this? (I am not sure what stderr logging is)

Thanks

Howdy,

Are you loading PHP's SNMP extension? I haven't seen that error before, but a little Googling suggests that the PHP SNMP module may be responsible for those messages.

If you don't require SNMP, you may just want to disable that particular PHP module.

Interesting... (I googled it but didnt find anything) I dont know why the php snmp module would be enabled.. I do see it listed under PHP information though.. I cannot however find any reference to it in php.ini file... Is it turned on/off somewhere else or am i just missing it?

I did install APC... do you know if there may be any correlation there?

Thx!

Howdy,

I don't think it's related to APC.

I'm guessing by the software versions I see in your logs there that you're running CentOS 6?

If so, what does this command output:

rpm -qa | grep php-

Yes, 6.2 actually. What is strange it that i dont see ANYTHING in the php.ini file regarding snmp at all?

[root@host01 ~]# rpm -qa | grep php-

Strange, because I actually see snmp in your ini file ;-)

i see it in the output but not in the actual text of the php.ini if i nano /etc/php.ini Shouldn't this be the correct file?

Howdy,

There's multiple files that could host PHP configuration bits.

My recommendation would be just to remove it altogether though, using this command:

rpm -e php-snmp

Thanks - i will do that... That figures though - i like php but damn it is a pain in the ass sometimes.. :)

One final question - there are a bunch of these:

[Mon Jan 30 12:15:12 2012] [notice] caught SIGTERM, shutting down
[Mon Jan 30 12:15:12 2012] [notice] SELinux policy enabled; httpd running as context unconfined_u:system_r:httpd_t:s0
[Mon Jan 30 12:15:12 2012] [notice] suEXEC mechanism enabled (wrapper: /usr/sbin/suexec)
[Mon Jan 30 12:15:12 2012] [notice] Digest: generating secret for digest authentication ...
[Mon Jan 30 12:15:12 2012] [notice] Digest: done
[Mon Jan 30 12:15:12 2012] [notice] Apache/2.2.15 (Unix) DAV/2 mod_fcgid/2.3.6 PHP/5.3.3 mod_ssl/2.2.15 OpenSSL/1.0.0-fips SVN/1.6.11 mod_perl/2.0.4 Perl/v5.10.1 configured -- resuming normal operations

does this indicate a problem to you? I have searched but see stuff all over the place as to what it means.. I am not sure if it is a permissions thing i need to investigate further or if i can safely ignore it... any thoughts? Thanks a lot.

Yes, you are right. I scanned your output to quickly (no idea why I thought this could be a php.ini file :-)

But there is one thing you could try. You could disable SELinux to test whether your issues are "caused" by it?
