[SOLVED] Error - Access denied for IPADDRESS for to many login attempts

Installed Virtualmin on an EC2 Instance and after going to https://mydomain.com:10000 I was trying to put in the login information for the Instance but after a few tries I got:

Error - Access denied for IPADDRESS for to many login attempts

After the fact I did the /usr/{share,libexec}/webmin/changepass.pl /etc/webmin root XYZ instructions.

How to I get access back if at all? I was so close!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After a little bit a waiting it works and lets me try to log in again.

But the "/usr/{share,libexec}/webmin/changepass.pl /etc/webmin root XYZ" did not seem to take, it says.

usage: changepass.pl

This program allows you to change the password of a user in the Webmin password file. For example, to change the password of the admin user to foo, you would run: changepass.pl /etc/webmin admin foo This assumes that /etc/webmin is the Webmin configuration directory.

I have tried different things with different errors coming up like changepass.pl is not a command.

how do i fix so I can log into https://mydomain.com:10000?

If this helps using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

Webmin should initially have been set up with your root user and password, can't you log in with that?

Thank you for the reply.

With the Amazon Web Service EC2 only a key located on the local disk of the user is used so a password was not set only a username.

I also tried using only the login name for webmin that lets me login into SSH but it did not work.

Here http://www.virtualmin.com/documentation/installation/automated under the title "Setting a root password" it tries to help with this problem but it seems I don't understand how to set it up correctly.
