Restore backup to new URL

I'm trying to create a transfer procedure between my production systems and my local test environment to be able to test changes on the production environment without fear of breaking it. I have two TLD's that I would like to use (let's call them product.com and product.local), and all my sites are subdomains of those (so the end-user would see clientname.product.com and our local test environment for that site would be clientname.product.local). I have DNS configured separately for both, and am not currently using the Bind configuration utility at all.

What I'd really like to do is to be able to backup all the clientname.product.com sites, then restore them as clientname.product.local to another Virtualmin instance. The backups are scheduled and running in Amazon s3 right now, which is convenient because we use EC2 as our hosting platform.

Is there a way to restore the backup with all sites under a different TLD, or would I be best-off working with the Virtualmin command-line utilities to automate renaming all the domains after import (or before a backup)?

I checked in here: https://www.virtualmin.com/documentation/system/backup-and-restore But did not see an immediate solution. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure if I'm phrasing my question well, or if it just isn't a problem that's come up in the past. I need to configure a sync of some sort for next week, and backup/restore seems to be the best tool available through Virtualmin to do that.

I also found the Migrate Site tool, but haven't had a chance to do much research yet. I was hoping someone more experienced with Virtualmin could spend a few minutes pointing me in the right direction to save me a few hours of hunting.
