Mail forward does not work (fatal: execvp /etc/webmin/virtual-server/autoreply.pl: No such file or directory)

Forward does not work in my virtualmin server. In mail.err there is lots of these Jul 5 02:24:00 localhost local[25339]: fatal: execvp /etc/webmin/virtual-server/autoreply.pl: No such file or directory

I found there is autoreply.pl in /usr/share/webmin/postfix/. Is it safe to copy autoreply.pl from there to /etc/webmin/virtual-server ?

ls -al /usr/share/webmin/postfix/ total 1016 drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 20480 Jun 29 15:59 . drwxr-xr-x 146 root root 20480 Jul 4 07:58 .. -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 855 Jun 12 21:09 acl_security.pl -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1138 Jun 14 02:38 address_rewriting.cgi -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 3045 Jun 14 02:38 aliases.cgi -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 8183 Jun 12 21:09 aliases-lib.pl -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 10959 Jun 14 02:38 autoreply.pl -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1424 Jun 12 21:09 backup_config.pl

I know, this is an old post, but in case someone else comes across this issue:

We encountered the same problem when we moved a site from one server to another (create backup on server A, move backup file to server B, restore backup on server B). On server A, the feature "Send automatic reply?" was activated for a specific user (and no delivery methods at all). I assume, this feature was not activated for any user on server B.

After restoring the backup on server B, these "fatal: execvp /etc/webmin/virtual-server/autoreply.pl: No such file or directory" errors occurred in /var/log/mail.log for this user.

The file did not exist: /etc/webmin/virtual-server/autoreply.pl

Instead of copying any files, we simply deactivated the feature "Send automatic reply?" for this user via virtualmin's web interface and re-activated it. After that, the file was created, which solved the problem.

Additional notes:

  • Server A: Debian Linux 6, virtualmin 4.06.gpl.
  • Server B: Debian Linux 7, virtualmin 4.06.gpl.

(same setup on both servers... as close as possible)

Cheers
