Script Installer Updates

Hey guys,

So I was looking through the script installers. I know you guys are probably very busy but there are a couple script installers that maybe should be removed that I saw (eTicket, Mephisto) but the main point of this is that some should be updated, in particular I noticed osTicket was updated in April and there is another new version yesterday.

I was wondering if you had some sort of system in place to notify you of updates for all of the scripts such as RSS subscriptions or a scraper bot that scans a page for major changes, or even reports if the page is down or alerts if there wasn't an update for a long time indicating either that the page no longer tells you about updates or no longer exists or has moved, etc. For example, in the case of osTicket maybe the release notes page could be scanned, however osTicket also has release notifications via email. Not everyone probably does though.

Obviously keeping things maintained is a lot of work. Looking forward to see what you have in store next =)

Howdy,

Thanks for all your thoughts!

Jamie built some custom tools that notify him of updates... when they detect something, he'll push those new versions out into Virtualmin.

It sounds like you're saying a release managed to slip through though. Nuts! There could be a few possible reasons for that... the best thing to do would be to open a support request (using the "Support" link above), and bring that to his attention.

It may just be that he needs to tweak his scripts.

Actually it looks like someone has already reported this back in July for 1.7 http://virtualmin.com/node/28785 however as I mentioned another new version was just released. So it does sound like a lot of work but maybe Jamie just likes things to be perfect. I wonder if there is anything I can possibly do to help.
