Greylisting !

Hey, i enabled greylisting through virtualmin. I tried sending mail from gmail to my server and in maillog it says : Jun 30 13:21:21 eimantas milter-greylist: (unknown id): skipping greylist because this is the default action,

How do i need to enable greylisting so it would greylist the message from the recipient for 1 time and on 2nd time it should be whitelisted?

I checked my greylist.conf and i see the option: racl whitelist default

i can change it to racl greylist default but then it would be greylisted all the time.

i also tried to change main.cf option : milter_default_action = tempfail

tried accept reject but it doesnt solve anything

Help please :)

EDIT: OK, i deleted the option racl whitelist default and now it greylists: eimantas milter-greylist: (unknown id): addr mail-ig0-f177.google.com[209.85.213.177] from eimantas.zdanys@gmail.com to tidusas@tidusas.lt delayed for 00:30:00 (ACL ) Jun 30 16:13:13 eimantas postfix/smtpd[17920]: NOQUEUE: milter-reject: RCPT from mail-ig0-f177.google.com[209.85.213.177]: 451 4.7.1 Greylisting in action, please come back later; from=eimantas.zdanys@gmail.com to=tidusas@tidusas.lt proto=ESMTP helo=<mail-ig0-f177.google.com>

so what to do now ? i still can't get the mail after 30 mins.

EDIT2: Managed to get mail after 30 mins, but when i send a new one from same gmail to my server mail i get greylisted again... Is there a way that the same sender wont get greylisted time and time again ?

eimantas postgrey[17052]: action=pass, reason=triplet found, client_name=snt004-omc2s49.hotmail.com, client_address=65.54.61.100, sender=eimazas@hotmail.com, recipient=tidusas@tidusas.lt Jun 30 17:02:45 eimantas milter-greylist: (unknown id): addr snt004-omc2s49.hotmail.com[65.54.61.100] from eimazas@hotmail.com to tidusas@tidusas.lt delayed for 00:24:50 (ACL ) Jun 30 17:02:45 eimantas postfix/smtpd[19952]: NOQUEUE: milter-reject: RCPT from snt004-omc2s49.hotmail.com[65.54.61.100]: 451 4.7.1 Greylisting in action, please come back later; from=eimazas@hotmail.com to=tidusas@tidusas.lt proto=ESMTP helo=<SNT004-OMC2S49.hotmail.com>

EDIT3: Added parameter to greylist.conf racl greylist rcpt /.*@tidusas.lt/ delay 2m autowhite 30d

delay - working autowhite - not, everytime i send mail from same address to same address(@tidusas.lt) i get to the greylist line for 2 mins...

I give up, my last log: Jun 30 17:54:53 eimantas milter-greylist: (unknown id): addr 209.85.213.170 from eimantas.zdanys@gmail.com rcpt tidusas@tidusas.lt: autowhitelisted for another 72:00:00 Jun 30 17:54:53 eimantas postfix/smtpd[21770]: 1795F62228: client=mail-ig0-f170.google.com[209.85.213.170] Jun 30 17:54:53 eimantas postfix/cleanup[21862]: 1795F62228: message-id=CAAiJjOpXwifp9muLKxRDZzDrfMid=F5x8zULjgkyh9OOR3Ecyg@mail.gmail.com Jun 30 17:54:53 eimantas postfix/smtpd[21916]: connect from snt004-omc2s6.hotmail.com[65.55.90.81] Jun 30 17:54:53 eimantas milter-greylist: smfi_getsymval failed for {daemon_port}, using default smtp port Jun 30 17:54:53 eimantas postfix/qmgr[21768]: 1795F62228: from=eimantas.zdanys@gmail.com, size=1741, nrcpt=1 (queue active) Jun 30 17:54:53 eimantas postfix/smtpd[21770]: disconnect from mail-ig0-f170.google.com[209.85.213.170] Jun 30 17:54:54 eimantas milter-greylist: smfi_getsymval failed for {i} Jun 30 17:54:54 eimantas postfix/trivial-rewrite[21915]: warning: do not list domain tidusas.lt in BOTH mydestination and virtual_alias_domains Jun 30 17:54:54 eimantas postgrey[17052]: action=pass, reason=triplet found, client_name=snt004-omc2s6.hotmail.com, client_address=65.55.90.81, sender=eimazas@hotmail.com, recipient=tidusas@tidusas.lt Jun 30 17:54:54 eimantas milter-greylist: (unknown id): addr snt004-omc2s6.hotmail.com[65.55.90.81] from eimazas@hotmail.com to tidusas@tidusas.lt delayed for 00:00:59 (ACL 66) Jun 30 17:54:54 eimantas postfix/smtpd[21916]: NOQUEUE: milter-reject: RCPT from snt004-omc2s6.hotmail.com[65.55.90.81]: 451 4.7.1 Greylisting in action, please come back later; from=eimazas@hotmail.com to=tidusas@tidusas.lt proto=ESMTP helo=<SNT004-OMC2S6.hotmail.com> Jun 30 17:54:55 eimantas postfix/smtpd[21916]: disconnect from snt004-omc2s6.hotmail.com[65.55.90.81] Jun 30 17:54:55 eimantas postfix/local[21864]: 1795F62228: to=tidusas@www.tidusas.lt, orig_to=tidusas@tidusas.lt, relay=local, delay=2.7, delays=0.73/0/0/2, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (delivered to command: /usr/bin/procmail-wrapper -o -a $DOMAIN -d $LOGNAME) Jun 30 17:54:55 eimantas postfix/qmgr[21768]: 1795F62228: removed Jun 30 17:54:55 eimantas postfix/smtpd[21770]: connect from mail-ie0-f172.google.com[209.85.223.172] Jun 30 17:54:55 eimantas milter-greylist: smfi_getsymval failed for {daemon_port}, using default smtp port Jun 30 17:54:56 eimantas milter-greylist: smfi_getsymval failed for {i} Jun 30 17:54:56 eimantas postgrey[17052]: action=pass, reason=triplet found, client_name=mail-ie0-f172.google.com, client_address=209.85.223.172, sender=eimantas.zdanys@gmail.com, recipient=tidusas@tidusas.lt Jun 30 17:54:57 eimantas milter-greylist: (unknown id): addr mail-ie0-f172.google.com[209.85.223.172] from eimantas.zdanys@gmail.com to tidusas@tidusas.lt delayed for 00:02:00 (ACL 66) Jun 30 17:54:57 eimantas postfix/smtpd[21770]: NOQUEUE: milter-reject: RCPT from mail-ie0-f172.google.com[209.85.223.172]: 451 4.7.1 Greylisting in action, please come back later; from=eimantas.zdanys@gmail.com to=tidusas@tidusas.lt proto=ESMTP helo=<mail-ie0-f172.google.com> Jun 30 17:54:57 eimantas postfix/smtpd[21770]: disconnect from mail-ie0-f172.google.com[209.85.223.172]

Howdy,

The greylisting is performed by the Postgrey service.

It also sounds like the milter-greylist service was setup on your server -- the name there is a bit confusing, as it's not actually what is performing your greylisting.

The only thing Virtualmin uses milter-greylist for is it's email rate limiting.

So if you're experiencing any problems, the key would be to review the Postgrey service to try to troubleshoot the issue.

Yeah the i figured that this one is for email rate limiting. But in /etc/mail/greylisting.conf you can configure when to greylist/whitelist e-mail addresses. And i need properly working config so the server would greylist incoming address and after the address retries to send e-mail it automatically goes straight to whitelist. But this ain't happening to me ;/
