How do you remove a SSL certificate from Dovecot IMAP/POP3 Server

I got some new SSL certificates for my website and saw a the bottom of "Manage SSL Certificate" there was a message to "Copy to Dovecot".

I hit that and then all my computers began receiving messages about an invalid certificate; the iphone on this server is just not working anymore.

I went to try and remove this certificate from Webmin->Dovecot IMAP/POP3 Server-> SSL Configuration but couldn't figure out what the default settings where.

Edited the config file to remove the reference to the 3 certificate files, then I couldn't restart the service because it said that SSL is enabled.

Went in to /etc/dovecot/conf.d and edited 10-ssl.conf and put in a line that turns SSL off, the service started but now I'm back to square one where I am getting messages on my computers and the iphone won't send email period.

How do you turn off SSL and remove the certificates?

Howdy,

Does that SSL certificate work properly when accessed in Apache, using a web browser? That is, if you use a browser to access your website, does that certificate work correctly?

Rather than disabling SSL in Dovecot though, what you could also try is copying a new SSL certificate into it.

For any domain, if you enable the "SSL Website" feature, it will generate a self-signed SSL certificate. You could then copy that into Dovecot, which will overwrite the current SSL certificate that's in it.

Hi Eric,

Yes the certificate works properly, but because the mail host is using mail.mydomain.com it says it's invalid.

If I create a self signed certificate will that overwrite the valid one?

Ok I see where the confusion is. The problem is actually with Postfix and not with Dovecot.

I've created self signed certificates, reapplied, same errors from my clients.

Something is being overlooked, would appreciate any help!

NOTE: I had an SSL certificate applied before and there was no issue, I'm positive I had not applied to these two services prior.
