New version of virtual-server-theme

I've just uploaded a new version of the virtual-server-theme (called the "Virtualmin Framed Theme" in the theme selection page) that I've been working on for the past two or three days. The new 2.0 version looks nearly identical to the version you've all been using for the past few weeks, but usage speed is vastly improved. All menu and status section rollouts that previously required page reloads have been replaced with JavaScript/CSS magic to make them open instantly.

The implementation is very simple (five lines of JavaScript and two lines of CSS for the menu/status rollouts), so it is fast, reliable and runs cleanly on all four browsers that I have tested: IE, Firefox, Konqueror, and Opera. I welcome feedback from Mac users with Safari, though I expect it to work fine, since it shares most of its renderer with Konqueror. IE users will note that this version of the theme looks a bit better in IE, due to the replacement of several images with non-transparent PNGs, which IE cannot render correctly. Layout has also be cleaned up significantly and converted to nearly all CSS styles rather than HTML tables, to make rendering more consistent across all browsers.

Get the new theme on Red Hat-based systems with yum:

yum update

Or, on SUSE systems:

yast -i wbt-virtual-server-theme

Note that SUSE 9.3 systems cannot automatically refresh their sources. There is a script in the FAQ at http://www.virtualmin.com/faq/one-faq?faq_id=1511#26108 that should refresh the sources for you.

Please file bugs in the bug-tracker with any problems you run into.

Excellent! Thanks for the update, Joe! This is a big improvement in useability for the Virutalmin Framed Theme. It works well in the browsers I've tried so far in Windows.

Also, thanks again for creating this new News forum and for double-posting the announcements here so that we can now be notified via e-mail.
