Virtual Server vs SubServer
Posted 2012-02-09 08:18 by shotmillions
Hello!
I have installed Webmin & Virtualmin and its all working great however I have been setting up all websites on Virtual Servers and today I noticed the Sub Servers and tested one out.
I am wondering which one is most ram/cpu intensive and if I am better off having one Virtual Server with sub severs attached to it?
My server is for private use that they are linked to one another.
Thanks for your help! :D
Install options
Posted 2012-02-08 08:57 by Maria
Hi
During the install process I vaguely remember several options where I was informed that my choice could increase the memory load on the system.
However, for the life of me I can't now remember what area of the system it was referring to .... duh..!
Basically, I'd like to see what the difference in memory load is on the system by trying the other options by I don't know what they were. I don't partularly want to re-install to find out. Any ideas, it occurred severals times ?

Can't Start SSH
Posted 2012-02-06 20:08 by kyle787
Hi I have had virtualmin running on my server for several months and all has been going well. Recently I haven't been able to start SSH. When I click "Start SSH" I get the following error --
Failed to start SSH server : Rather than invoking init scripts through /etc/init.d, use the service(8) utility, e.g. service ssh start
Since the script you are attempting to invoke has been converted to an Upstart job, you may also use the start(8) utility, e.g. start ssh start: Job failed to start
DNS and Nameservers on fresh install
Posted 2012-02-06 13:44 by Maria
Hi
Real newbie question coming up.... !
Just installed Virtualmin onto a VPS and I have to say that having used Plesk for years this is a very pleasent breath of fresh air.
Anyway back to the question. My install was on top of a fresh copy of CentOS 5.7 and it all went fairly well. However I have a few queries around DNS and Nameservers. Basically do I have to make my host domain an actual server as well ? Whats confusing me is where the actual DNS and Nameservers are set if it's on a fresh install with no added servers.
Apache downloads the Php files instead of executing them
Posted 2012-02-05 12:44 by carlatf
Hi,
I had virtualmin running fine and I didn-t do anything yesterday on my server but suddenly apache downloads the php file instead of executing it. tresjolie.com.ar
a subserver of the same server works fine though
fiestajolie.com.ar
I know that something in the config must be wrong, but I searched everywhere and all seems to be fine. The error log doesnt show anything and I dont remember to have changed anything.
The system was not upgraded also,
Is there any line that I could add to force apache to excecute php files?

Hello,
My server just crashed. Yesterday I uploaded about 12GB to the server. The backup script backupped it ... every hour. After a day and a half the storage was saturated.

Multiple Domains and Subdomains on single directory
Posted 2012-02-02 06:06 by effisk
Hi,
I'm a complete newbie with Virtualmin/Webmin, and dedicated servers in general.
Here is what I need to do:
PART 1/
I have several domain names:
www.domain.com
www.domain.fr
www.domain.co.uk
They must all point to the same location (same /prod-directory) and use the same prod-database. Content is served according to the domain name (if domain.com => serve content in US English, if domain.fr => serve content in French, etc.)
PART 2/
I also have development versions for these websites, with the same features:
dev.domain.com
dev.domain.co.uk
dev.domain.fr
