Mountpoints and Quotas rejected new virtual servers and email account

Hi,

I have a dedicated server from Rapidswitch running CentOS 5.6 and it seems to have developed a problem creating new virtual servers and email account. When I try and perform either of these tasks, I get the following error "Failed to create virtual server : setquota: Mountpoint (or device) / not found. setquota: Not all specified mountpoints are using quota.". We have in excess of 200 virtual servers running and haven't had a problem with this until about a month ago.

Any ideas or suggestions on how to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Craig

It sounds like something in your /etc/fstab may be awry. One possibility is that it may not be setup to use quota's on your "/" partition. When you look in that file, whatever device is mounted on "/" should have the usrquota and grpquota options set. It's possible those options were removed somehow, though I'm not sure why that might happen.

Is it possible that another admin, or maybe your provider, made a change to the fstab, inadvertently removing those options?

However, the support area here is for Virtualmin Pro customers -- it sounds like you may be using Virtualmin GPL... folks using the GPL version would want to post support questions over in the forums. We also monitor those, as well as lots of wonderful folks in the community.

If you have additional questions regarding how to get your current predicament sorted out, my recommendation would be to open up a new forum thread, include what you listed above, as well as a copy of your /etc/fstab file. Thanks!
