Support email autoconfig for Microsoft Outlook

Guys,

Can we get autoconfig support for MS Outlook built into VM like you have for Thunderbird? This works good for Thunderbird but realistically that is a small portion of our email user-base compared to MS Outlook. That would be huge considering the majority of our support calls are email configuration issues!

Thanks!

That's a good idea - I will look into it, and update this ticket when it is done.

Jamie,

Any idea on an ETA for this? We're going to be moving a bunch of mail users onto VM so I just wanted an idea on the time-frame. Are we looking at a week or so or is this something more like 3 months?

Thanks!

Jamie would know all the details here, but just to help you plan -- I'll offer that since a new Virtualmin version just came out a few days ago, we'd be looking at a month at a minimum before a new Virtualmin version was released.

What I don't know, and what Jamie would be familiar with (he'll be available to comment later today), is whether that feature would end up in the next version, or some version after that.

OK, thanks for letting me know. Do you know what iPhone/iPad/Android use for autoconfig - they don't seem to use the Thunderbird autoconfig from my testing. We'd want to get those setup too but I haven't investigated those - I'll report back with what I find.

I've almost finished implementation of this, so if you need the feature soon I can send you a beta release of Virtualmin.

Sure, that would be great. Happy to test it.

Ok, I have a version ready to test - let me know if you are running Virtualmin GPL or Pro, and on what Linux distribution.

This is a gpl version to handle email accounts only.

Operating system CentOS Linux 6.4
Webmin version 1.650
Virtualmin version 4.02.gpl GPL

Ok, I have sent the updated Virtualmin RPM. You will need to disable and then re-enable autoconfig after installing the RPM in order to activate the Outlook support though.
