How does a user login to Webmin?

Hi

OS: CentOS 4.4 Webmin: webmin-1.350-1 Virtualmin: 3.42

I created a test domain as root using Virtualmin inside Webmin. If I try login to Webmin as the user for that domain it doesn't work, what gives?

Thanks M

Are you using the full dotted name as shown user page? Also unless I am mistaken ,users log using the usermin interface ie https://virtualserver.com:20000

Hope this helps
Nic

Mailbox users login via Usermin. It's for webmail, password changes, and possibly databases and file transfer, and spam/AV configuration on a per-user basis.

Virtual server account holders login via Webmin on port 10000.

Basically, anyone that can administer system resources has to come in via Webmin. Usermin drops privileges and so can't do any of the configuration that Virtualmin needs to do (like edit httpd.conf, named hosts files, etc.).

I created a test domain called test.com. During the creation process it says it creates a Webmin login.

If I look at /etc/webmin/miniserv.users I can see the user (test) there. Is the user meant to be able to log into Webmin to admin his site?

Yes.

There's the beginnings of a virtual server account holders guide in the docs, including the basics of logging into Virtualmin. I'm in the midst of working on this guide as we speak:

I dunno. ;-)

Check to see if the user has the name you think it does. You can see this in the Edit Mail and FTP Users page. The first, highlighted user is the domain owner account name.
