[PRO] update ?

Hi, I have a virtualmin pro installed and since May, it seems that there is no update available. As shown on the front page I can see : The following new features are available in Virtualmin 3.78 (installed 02/May/2010) ..

That's quite odd due to the regular updates offered by the Team.

If it's a bug, I can surely create a ticket :)

Hi Marc,

You should indeed have a newer version available to you... 3.80 is the most recent version out there now.

Which distribution are you using? And do you recall how you installed Virtualmin... was it with the install.sh script?

Howdy,

What happens if you log in as root on the command line, and type this:

apt-get update && apt-get upgrade

Does that say anything about any available packages, and give you the opportunity to upgrade them?

Howdy,

When you run an "apt-get upgrade", do you see an attempt to contact software.virtualmin.com? Do you notice any errors along with that?

Also, if you browse to http://virtualmin.com/serial/, you should see your license information.

Are there any problems listed on that page? Does it say your license is still active?

Hi,

seems that software.virtualmin.com is "ign" hope that does not mean : ignored I went to the page http://*****:*****@software.virtualmin.com/debian/ and it semms to work !

Finally the serial page gives me : end-date 04/09/2011

Okay, I marked this thread as private so no one else can see it.

Can you attach two things to this thread --

  1. The full output of "apt-get upgrade"

  2. The contents of your /etc/apt/sources.list file

That should help in figuring out what's going on... thanks!

Ah crap... I meant to ask for the results of "apt-get update", not "upgrade" :-)

Running "apt-get update" shows the results of your server contacting all the servers listed in the sources file, I wanted to see what was going on around the time it talked to software.virtualmin.com, as well as your other servers.

Sorry about that :-)

Could you post the output of "apt-get update"? :-)

Hmm, so according to that, it all appears normal.

How about this -- what do you get when typing the following:

dpkg -l 'webmin*'

That should show the specific packages you have installed and what version each are at. Perhaps that will shed some light on what's going on there.

Thanks!

Hrm, I didn't catch this the first few times I looked at your posts, but are you running Debian 4, "Etch", or are you running Debian 5, "Lenny"?

If you're running Debian 5, Lenny, then you'll want to edit your /etc/apt/sources.list, and change this line:

deb http://XXXX:XXXX@software.virtualmin.com/debian/ virtualmin-etch

You'll want to edit the "etch" there to instead read "lenny".

You'll be surprised : I put back ETCH instead of LENNY and it works now ! Don't ask why I changed that, don't ask why it works now, don't ask if I made voodoo stuffs;-)

But if you want to access the server, I'll open a ssh access for you !
