Virtualmin "missing"

After creating a new virtual server, the virtualmin links in navigation disapeared. I did read the forums looking for some resolution, here is what i have tried.

I have checked "roots" permission in webmin users. I removed all the virtualmin options saved, then added them back. i changed the theme to "old webmin" (that brought back memories), then changed it back to authentic. I manually updated authentic to 19.22. i have restarted webmin and reboot the server. The only thing under virtualmin is the "dashboard" link....

One other thing i should mention, earlier in the day i updated Mariadb from 5.6 to 10.3 and i upgraded the .php to 7.3 but it all worked fine until i added that new virtual host, It required the updates and that VH does work....

Thanks in Advance Bill

Howdy,

Hmm, can you share a screenshot of wha you see when logging ino Virtualmin?

Also, what distro/version are you using?

Lastly, rather than the Old Webmin theme, what happens when you try setting the theme to the "Virtualmin Framed Theme"?

Thanks for the reply! Here is a screen shot... https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uVAWjD0lcNEdBmodtqFxL0IwzUhxkwSQ/view?u... The server is running CentOS Linux 7.6.1810 The only other theme is "gray framed" and that doesnt look any different...

I doubt this means anything but... in the mysql module it reports 10.0.3 but on the dashboard it still says 5.56....

Hmm, I'm a little concerned that something in the process of changing the MariaDB version, or other packages changes, caused the Virtualmin packages to be removed.

What is the output of this command:

rpm -qa | grep virtual-server

If that doesn't return anything, Virtualmin is no longer installed.

Just for giggles i created a new webmin user, gave it permission to all the modules. That user doesn't have virtualmin either.... :-) It is able to look standard modules and stop/start services though.

Well here comes my best shot at short answer...

lots of googling led me to believe it was a theme issue. I discovered that i needed to change the theme for root at the usermin level to see what it looked like in an old theme fully, which i did and wow there is "virtualmin server" just like the old days. BUT it kept taking me to the old setup screen to choose a mail server. ARGH...

Then I get a phone call from a customer, my website isn't sending mail.... back to webmin, NO postfix module under servers! No postfix listed in bootup/shutdown.

yum install postfix.... Virtualmin is BACK!

How that was removed i have no idea....

Clearly there is a dependency on postfix that caused VM to not display. Is there a button somewhere in webmin to check dependency for virtualmin? if not you might consider adding one.

FIXED!!
