it shows the current ipv6 is the default for all domains.

when i try to add this ipv6 later in the domains configuration I get: Updating IP addresses in virtual server etc-md.com

I have started restoring WITHOUT restoring ipv6 at all....domain restores are now going at a respectable9but not as fast as they should be) speed.

it stil hangs on Restoring Apache virtual host configuration for 2-4 minutes while it powers through other parts instantly. during this hang there little if any server activity..it's like virt is just waiting on something.

another hang point is: Checking restored PHP execution mode for another 2-5 minutes...again with no server activity.

also hangs on Restoring SSL Apache virtual host configuration and certificate

hello? I understand not being answered last night..right now i am unable to assign ipv6 addresses either manually or automatically and this is something that is business bullet. help please?

Assigned: Unassigned »

I'll ping Jamie to get his thoughts on that.

Machine is dual l5640, 64 gigs ram and dual 500 gig SSD hardware raid 1. There are 20 domains on this machine with loads averaging less than 1. This is not a heavy load and there's not highly active sites on it.

Sorry for the delay -- we didn't forget about you, Jamie will respond as soon as he can.

Ok there are clearly several odd things going on with this system. Do we have remote access to it?

this particular system only has the ipv6 problem mentioned above.(which leads to other issues as mentioned above). how would you like remote? is the ability to give support remote access still working in virt? if not i can take this private and drop in a temp root password.

I have enabled remote access for you folks using the support module...thanks andreycheck..:)

what is the status on this?

I just installed the latest release and i was able to create a new account with an ipv6 address. Now let's see if the ipv6 addiess will be restored properly from the backups..:)

nopers. I created a new account and Adding IPv6 address 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:102 .. .. IPv6 address failed! : Failed to remove old IPv6 address : SIOCDIFADDR: Cannot assign requested address

The address was not used. It got added to the networking stack but virt failed to see if. i wnet and deleted the domain and the ipv6 address manually and tried again: .. IPv6 address failed! : Failed to remove old IPv6 address : SIOCDIFADDR: Cannot assign requested address

so then i tried to add the ipv6 address..but first i removed it from the networking stack: here's the list after the errors: 199.15.253.2 (Default IP) 19 virtual servers 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:100 (Dedicated IP) etc-md.com 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:103 (Dedicated IP) acrylic-dreams.com 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:104 (Dedicated IP) adwarfstale.com 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:10a (Dedicated IP) the-black-dragons.com 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:10d (Dedicated IP) theministerium.org 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:110 (Dedicated IP) troubadourjohn.com 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:1f (Dedicated IP) bluecarriage.com 2604:4100:2:7::101 (Dedicated IP) cool1450amwthu.com 2604:4100:2:7::106 (Dedicated IP) criglobal.com 2604:4100:2:7::107 (Dedicated IP) frederickbusinessconnections.com 2604:4100:2:7::108 (Dedicated IP) aminerdetail.com 2604:4100:2:7::109 (Dedicated IP) hescominsoon.com 2604:4100:2:7::10b (Dedicated IP) tomhinton.com 2604:4100:2:7::10c (Dedicated IP) youragingresource.com 2604:4100:2:7::111 (Dedicated IP) theheartandsoulofculture.com 2604:4100:2:7::15 (Dedicated IP) tndservices.com 2604:4100:2:7::1e (Dedicated IP) mmarketplace.org 2604:4100:2:7::4 (Dedicated IP) symbioticmarketingllc.com virt doesn't see netcio.com at all in the ipv6 list. But the address is in the networking stack 2604:4100:2:7::2 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:103 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:104 2604:4100:2:7::108 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:1f 2604:4100:2:7::101 2604:4100:2:7::106 2604:4100:2:7::107 2604:4100:2:7::109 2604:4100:2:7::1e 2604:4100:2:7::4 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:10a 2604:4100:2:7::111 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:10d 2604:4100:2:7::15 2604:4100:2:7::10b 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:110 2604:4100:2:7::10c 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:102

so now i remove it using webmin and try to add it back to the domain: Updating IP addresses in virtual server netcio.com

Adding IPv6 address 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:102 ..
Failed to change IP address : Failed to remove old IPv6 address : SIOCDIFADDR: Cannot assign requested address

and it's in the networking stack: 2604:4100:2:7::2 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:103 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:104 2604:4100:2:7::108 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:1f 2604:4100:2:7::101 2604:4100:2:7::106 2604:4100:2:7::107 2604:4100:2:7::109 2604:4100:2:7::1e 2604:4100:2:7::4 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:10a 2604:4100:2:7::111 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:10d 2604:4100:2:7::15 2604:4100:2:7::10b 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:110 2604:4100:2:7::10c 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:102

now i will re-add it to the domain using the already active option: Failed to change IP address : The IPv6 address is already used by virtual server netcio.com

now i cnnaot add it at all.

come on folks..can we PLEASE get this issue addressed? it seems when the ipv6 gets out of numerical sequence it now freaks out about that. Ipv6 is pretty borked now.....

No reponse for nearly a week....can we get some resultion please?

so this is hte process i hae to go through to get ipv6 added to a new domain. This also means backups to existing domains ALSO FAIL WHEN RESTORING THE IPV6 ADDRESS IS SELECTED.

create/restore the domain without an ipv6. for new domains i then use the change ip option and have it allocate the ipv6 address. it will tell me allocating said ipv6 failed. i then take the allocated ipv6 address and tell changeip to use the afroementioned ipv6 and tick the already active box. it will go through. for restores: restore without ipv6. change ip option then tlel it to use the ipv6 address it was assigned(which means i better have it notated somewhere)...and the address MIGHT take..if it fails i then have to redo it and tell it it is already active..then it usually takes.

and we are back. this is trying to remove an ipv6 address on an ubuntu 16.04 mahcine..it's not machine specific..there are issues with ipv6 in virt.

Removing IPv6 address 2604:4100:0:17::111 .. .. IPv6 address failed! : Failed to remove old IPv6 address : SIOCDIFADDR: Cannot assign requested address

networking list: 2604:4100:0:17::2 2604:4100:0:17::107 2604:4100:0:17::104 2604:4100:0:17::106 2604:4100:0:17::111 2604:4100:0:17::10a 2604:4100:0:17::10d 2604:4100:0:17::10e 2604:4100:0:17::116 2604:4100:0:17::117 2604:4100:0:17::119 2604:4100:0:17::11b 2604:4100:0:17::11e 2604:4100:0:17::11f 2604:4100:0:17::122 2604:4100:0:17::124 2604:4100:0:17::125 2604:4100:0:17::127

I removed the ip address manually after this error popped up.

ubuntu 18.04. restoring a domain..and got the familiar ipv6 error: Adding IPv6 address 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:118 .. .. IPv6 address failed! : Failed to remove old IPv6 address : SIOCDIFADDR: Cannot assign requested address

Why is it trying to remove when it is supposed to be adding and vice versa?

Of course now it hangs on applying web server configuration and other areas. update It's been more than 10 minutes of it stuck on applying web server configuration now since ipv6 bombed on it

update 2 after 5 more minutes i just killed the restore and am now felting the domain.

of course the address is actually there at least in networking: 2604:4100:2:7::2 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:103 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:104 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:1f 2604:4100:2:7::1e 2604:4100:2:7::4 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:10a 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:10d 2604:4100:2:7::15 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:110 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:102 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:105 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:108 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:109 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:10e 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:10f 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:112 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:113 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:114 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:116 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:117 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:115 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:100 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:10c 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:118

let's see if it pings: ping 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:118

Pinging 2604:4100:2:7::118 with 32 bytes of data: Destination host unreachable. Destination host unreachable. Destination host unreachable. Destination host unreachable.

Ping statistics for 2604:4100:2:7::118: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),

i am going to go back to my trick of not restoring with assigning an ipv6 upon domain creation/restoration. It's hard to automate adding accounts when there's consistent issues.

btw before i removed 118 from the networking section I also pinged etc-md.com on it's 100 address..and guess what..it works..not my datacenter..not the machine(as the multitude of tickets shows this has occurred across multiple reformat/reloads)..it's virt. ping etc-md.com

Pinging etc-md.com [2604:4100:2:7::100] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 2604:4100:2:7::100: time=30ms Reply from 2604:4100:2:7::100: time=20ms Reply from 2604:4100:2:7::100: time=28ms Reply from 2604:4100:2:7::100: time=21ms

Ping statistics for 2604:4100:2:7::100: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 20ms, Maximum = 30ms, Average = 24ms

so for giggles i went back into change ip and let it try again. it barfed on the 118(even though it is now in the networking section)...and 118 is not pingable. I went back into change ip and told it change ip address and told it to allocate an ipaddress. This time it gave me .119 and look at this: ping 2604:4100:2:7:0:0:0:119

Pinging 2604:4100:2:7::119 with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 2604:4100:2:7::119: time=21ms Reply from 2604:4100:2:7::119: time=20ms Reply from 2604:4100:2:7::119: time=20ms Reply from 2604:4100:2:7::119: time=20ms

Ping statistics for 2604:4100:2:7::119: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 20ms, Maximum = 21ms, Average = 20ms

now it works. I gave you rmeote access once..and i do not know if it was utilized. i will enable it again for 30 days. Check your email..:)

I have been trying for a couple of years to get my control panel to work correctly. Unfortunately it appears my choice of web hosting control panel vendors has done me in. The issue has been constant ipv6 issues. My vendor, Virtualmin, is unable to fix the problems and unfortunately this means I have two choices. I have to switch to another control panel which will cost double what I am paying now for less features or I can slowly wind down operations.

All existing hosting arrangements will be honored until their expiry. I will not be accepting any new clients for web hosting and my servers will stay online until Jan 7th 2021. I have plenty of funds to keep things operating until that point. All offerings with the exception of ipv6 will also continue to operate until this time. I am also suspending billing for any renewals as since I am unable to provide the service I advertised I cannot, in good conscience) continue to bill for a service I cannot provide in full.

I simply do not have the resources to build my own panel at this time and the hundreds of hours I have spent have taken a toll on my health. It is, with a heavy heart, that I wind down my hosting operations. For all who have used my service, I thank you. If you want an archive of your site all you have to do is ask and I will make one for you that will facilitate your transition to other hosting. I will also turn over domains to your chosen registrar as well if you have purchased domains through me.Since I am giving over a year’s notice nobody will be shorted on their contracts. Sincerely, William Warren
