Lost root password

I booted my Vmin Pro system this morning and it would not allow me to login with the root password. Not at the Vmin login. Not via ssh. Not at the console. Tried booting my other test server, same thing. However, I COULD login to vmin with a virtual web server account.

Any idea why this happened? It's like the system timed out the root password.

All was well last Friday. I shut the system down for the weekend and rebooted this morning ...

It's hard to say unless you can login as root and check the logs to see what could have changed the password...

Can you access the machine at the console? If so, it could be booted from a rescue CD and the root password changed by editing /etc/shadow ..

OK. Its Monday! Nevermind. Definitely a user error.
