Mail quota hits because the /tmp folder is full with Clamav files

Hi,

On two servers we have seen the behaviour that a mail quota is being hit because of a lot of clam files in the /tmp directory. I've found some issues on the internet and I found out that the default behaviour is that these temp files get deleted once in a while. But, that isn't the case on these servers, how can we fix this?

Thanks,

Justin

Howdy -- take a peek in Webmin -> Webmin -> Webmin Configuration -> Advanced. There's an option called "Maximum age of temporary files" -- you may need to make time listed there a bit shorter.

There's a clamav bug that can cause this.. The best fix is to switch to running clamd, which seems to avoid the issue. Assuming you can afford the extra 100M of RAM it uses, this can be done at Email Messages -> Spam and Virus Scanning.

Or it can be done from the command line with :

virtualmin set-spam --enable-clamd
virtualmin set-spam --use-clamdscan

Hi,

As a test I changed the Maximum age of temporary files to 1 day to see if this resolves the problem. If not, I will suggest the customer to change to Clamd.

Thanks,

Justin.
