Website Redirect Creation Fails

This was the source URL, which returns an error from Virtualmin:

http://corporatecast.biz/redevent/details/1-launch?xref=1

Failed to save redirect : Missing or invalid source URL path

Not supposed to have the protocol or the domain name? I am not sure, as there's no help on the page. I figured that Vmin would strip the domain name anyway, and it does say URL.

Yeah, you should just enter the path like /redevent/details/1-launch?xref=

I will update the help on that page to be clearer about this.

No, sorry, it still says Invalid, same error.

Are you sure you entered it with the / at the start, and no spaces at the start or end?

I fixed the leading slash issue, but there is still an error.

The redirect is failing to execute.

I am still getting a 404. I can tell because I have a component called AceSEF, which I have set to have all 404s go to the home page.

The new, shortened, path only "URL" is redirecting to the home page, even after clearing my browser cache.

Here is the line copied from your own screen in Virtualmin:

/redevent/details/1-launch?xref=1 Redirect to URL http://corporatecast.biz/redevent/1-launch/details/1

Not working, not sure why.

What is the full URL that you are trying to access to trigger the redirect?

I did some testing, and found that Apache doesn't seem to allow redirects for URLs with parameters in them :-(

Would it work if you were to redirect /redevent/details/1-launch instead?

Ah, poop.

No, you see we put this old URL in the PDF brochure that went out to a few hundred people.

The best I have now is that my SEF software can redirect all 404s to the Home Page.

That, and fixing the PDF.

Thanks for checking...sorry for the trouble, where there is no ready solution.

Best, Ken

Ok, sorry I couldn't help here ..
