"Mark all recent posts as read" function

See title. :)

Not sure if such a function exists, at least I could not find it. If it does exist, this shall become a "support request" and please point me to it. :)

If it does not exist, it might be helpful to have it. When going through the recent posts, I'd like to mark all those that I didn't read but that I don't intend to read either as "read", so that further new ones stand out immediately. Is that doable?

I'm unfortunately not aware of a way to do that. I dug around a bit, and I don't see any sort of option for enabling that.

I'm passing this along to Joe in the off-chance that he knows of some super-secret option that's hiding in the bowels of the forum system that I didn't see.

:-) Thanks Eric! No biggie if it doesn't work, yet the suggested thing is usually a standard function of forums.

I asked for this when they made this forum version live, the old forum had it and it worked.

And I still don't like this one.

I have to agree there... While this Drupal-based site sure looks elegant, the forum part is lacking several essential features. Marking posts as read, quoting previous posts and sending personal messages to list just three.

Maybe some time the administration might consider integrating a full-featured forum software and making an appropriate theme for it. Then again, that is surely quite some work, and probably time better spent elsewhere. :)

How many people would donate their time getting the old forum back creating the the current website theme ?

ME !!

the old forum was a joomla component. I doubt it will come back. but perhaps some standalone forum could integrate with drupal, like SMF or even vBulletin.

Both of these forum alternatives would be appreciated. :) I like both SFM and vBulletin... The former even more.

I've added mark as read functionality to the forums.
