Webalizer not working for only ONE domain

Hi good people,

I have been quiet for a while, did you miss me ? :-)

Actually, I lied in the subject of this thread, there are 2 domains out of 45 on the server for which Webalizer is not working. It just seemed more descrpitive when reading the subject lines in the forum.

I can find no error messages indicating that the Webalizer script has failed. I found out by chance by looking at the reports for the customer and it seems that Webalizer has not been successful since 5th July. (wonder if that is significant).

If I use the "Generate Report" button in VM => Webalizer Report it takes a while to reply with the following:

Running Webalizer to generate report from /var/log/virtualmin/XXXXX.co.uk_access_log ..

.. Webalizer failed! See the output above for details.

If I use SSH I get this (nor error message or anything)

[root@ns1 /]# /etc/webmin/webalizer/webalizer.pl /var/log/virtualmin/XXXXX.co.uk_access_log
[root@ns1 /]#

I have checked the logs in /var/log/virtualmin/XXXXX.co.uk_error_log /etc/httpd/logs/error_log

But I can't find anything (are these even the right places ?).

The access logs do have recent content but it is less than I expected.

I have checked the permissions, ownership and group of the following which all seem to be in keeping with other domains on the server :- /var/log/virtualmin/XXXXX.co.uk_access_log /home/XXXXX/public_html/stats

I am sure I have checked lots of other things but can't remember then all.

CentOS Linux 5.5, Webmin version = 1.520, Virtualmin version = 3.82 Pro

So, now I have run out of ides, can anyone educate/help me please.

Many thanks for reading this.

Tim

Hmm.. Is the server located in the U.S.? If so, maybe the fireworks on the previous day were simply too much for poor Webalizer. ;-)

SCNR. Seriously, unfortunately I don't have any useful hints, aside from checking all available error logs (maybe located in home or /var/webmin)...

Thanks for being so fast Locutus.

No, it is "independent" from the US. LOL

I have found these logs :-
/var/log/virtualmin/XXXXX.co.uk_error_log
and
/etc/httpd/logs/error_log

The /home/XXXXX/logs directory hold two symbolic links one of which is /var/log/virtualmin/XXXXX.co.uk_error_log

(are these the right logs even ?)

But I cant find any errors lsited.

Those two logs are the Apache error logs, the domain and global one. I doubt there's Webalizer related stuff in there.

Is there maybe some invalid data in the log Webalizer is supposed to process, making it fail? Does the Webalizer script have a "verbose" or "debug" mode, getting it to output more data about failures?

Got it sussed out. :-)

The file webalizer.current in /home/XXXXX/public_html/stats was obviously corrupted.

I deleted (renamed) that file and fired off another "Generate Report" and it all works again.

Brill !

Thanks for your suggestions Locutus.

You're welcome! Glad to see another Vmin user happy (again). ;)

Oh! I'm happy, believe me.

It is rare that I pay for software (no, not pirate, open source) but in the case of WM/VM, I will happily continue to make an exception. ;-)
