Cloudmin KVM hosts as DNS Master server

Hello,

For different reasons, we would like our own servers to be authoritative for our domains, so we're looking for the best solution.

The idea would be to use our KVM hosts (one of wich is the Cloudmin Master) as Primary and Secondary DNS servers for our domains. One of them will have master zones and the other one slaves zones.

Here's the question : providing we ask our registrar to set up the correct glue records, will we be able to do this without risking to break something in Cloudmin ? Or should we set up distinct VM's to be our DNS servers ?

Thanks in advance for your insights.

That will work fine with Cloudmin. In fact, as of a few releases ago Cloudmin no longer depends on the hostnames of VMs being resolvable via DNS .. it keeps track of the IPs of each VM internally.

You may see some performance slowdown in the UI if resolution of a VMs hostname times out though.
