VPS and DNS

Hi,

I've got a VPS with only ssh access and managed to install Webmin+Virtualmin, everithing looks good. I've got about 20 domains I would like to host on my new VPS. I've created the virtual servers for each, that's good. Now here's when I struggled, my VPS provider doesn't provide DNS, meaning they don't give me a ns1.something.com and ns2.something.com that I could use...

What's the best option here? I've read about setting up the VPS to act as Server Name, or get a free DNS service..

If I had to configure my server to act as Name Server, what should I do? I only have a Public Ip address I was given.

Thank you,

Matias.

Howdy,

Well, how you set that up depends on your needs... there's some details here on how to setup your server to act as a nameserver in the section titled "How do I setup nameservers for my server":

http://www.virtualmin.com/documentation/dns/faq

Setting up your server to act as a nameserver is more work up front, but makes things easier down the road each time you add a domain to your system.

Using a third party for DNS doesn't have any initial setup, but means that you'd have to setup DNS entries for every new domain added to your server.
