Virtualmin user permissions

Hi,

when I create a new virtual server it creates a virtualmin login (I've chose to) and here's my question:

I login to Virtualmin with the user created and I can see some features I don't like the user to see, like "Change Domain Name", or any of the categories under "Service", neither the "Webmin" category! the users I give the virtualmin account to are non IT persons, and may do a mess with their site, what are your suggestions?

I only want them to be able to create additional email accounts and change email accounts passwords, eventually if someone asks me to have access to more features, I would like to provide that specific user with a different access type so I can fit his needs.

Hope I was clear.

Thanks!

Howdy,

You can tweak a lot of the available features for a Virtual Server owner by going into Administrative Options -> Edit Owner Limits. In there, you can set the various options in "Allowed capabilities and features".

You can also tweak those options in the Account Plans, so that they're set automatically when creating a new account.

I found the place you mentioned and deactivated almost everything for a virtual server I had created.

I still can see this though:

[–] Server Configuration Change Domain Name [–] Services Configure Website Mailing Lists PHP 5 Configuration Preview Website Protected Directories

How can I block "Change Domain Name", "configure Website" and "PHP5 config"?

I also see this: (I want to remove these permissions as well for the user...)

[–] Webmin Modules BIND DNS Server Change Language and Theme Change Passwords File Manager PHP Configuration Protected Web Directories Read User Mail Running Processes SSH Login Scheduled Commands Scheduled Cron Jobs System Logs

thank you!

I did what you suggested an worked, now, how can I get rid of the "Webmin Mondules" and "Services", also "server configuration"?

Thank you,

Howdy,

Well, there isn't fine grained control over every menu item in Virtualmin.. however, you can tweak the Webmin modules that show up by going into System Settings -> Server Templates -> Default -> Administrator's Webmin Modules -- and in there, you can tweak which Webmin modules are made available to the Virtual Server owners.
