What error message do you get?

Also, did you recently upgrade Java on your client system?

Hi Jamie,

Resource https://server1.indecta.se:10000/file/file.jar has future expires: Thu Jan 16 14:26:46 CET 2014 update check skipped. Java Plug-in 10.51.2.13 Använder JRE-version 1.7.0_51-b13 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM Användarens hemkatalog = C:\Documents and Settings\Leffe

I'm using Swedish Windows version, hope this helps.

I have tried, IE and my default browser Firefox same result with both. Have not updatet Java in a while, but tried to when I ran into this problem, still the same after updating Java

Hi Jamie,

I don't mean to be impatient but I have lots of daily updates that need to be done and I do all my work online with the File Manager. Is there any way to get it up and running again? or is there any other file manager that is secure that I can use? if so, which one, and how do I install it.

Best regards, Leffe

I found a way to get it to start... I moved the security level to the lowest and also added the domain to "trusted" list i Java and now the File manager starts after a few warning messages.

It's not the best way to lower the security in Java to minimum, but it's ok for now! I can now do all my updates! :)

Best regards, Leffe

The issue here is that the latest Java update made it mandatory that java applets be code signed, and this hasn't been done for the file manager yet. We are working on it though - but until then, the work-around in comment #4 will allow you to use the module.

Ok,

Thanks Jamie!

It's been at least 9 days since this problem began & was reported. I don't understand why it isn't being classified as "critical" ... Is virtualmin's file manager working? This is from one of 3 effected servers - it's a debian 7 - the others are fedora

It is being worked on, but it's not a simple fix, unfortunately.

The workaround, in the meantime, is to reduce the security settings in the Java control panel, which will enable self-signed apps to work properly.

Thank you much for responding ....

  • I'm using chrome (a 32 bit browser) & OS X 10.7.5 (using java 6) & there's no apparent way to alter security settings -

we can thank Oracle, Microsoft, Adobe etal for the messes & their endless proprietary junk - I'm glad Apple drew a line on java and flash ... we could use a new java-less file manager using html5

An alternative is to use WinSCP.

If on Windows, using WinSCP in combination with visual studio is a good alternative.

Ok, I finally have managed to get a code signing cert that can be used to sign the file manager applet. Anyone who wants to get a fix right now can download the 1.678 version of Webmin from http://www.webmin.com/devel.html . An official version will be released in a few days.
