DNS Records not updating

Hi there,

I've been trying to update the DNS records for one of our websites that has an issue with forwarding mail from the website contact form through to the customer and client. It was suggested to me that it might be an SMTP issue due to the client using a Microsoft email address.

I got in touch with our host server company who talked me through inputting the correct DNS records to allow emails to be sent through, and how to verify them. This was on Friday, and I have attempted to verify them 3 times since then, so well over the suggested propagation time of 24-48 hours, but the records are still showing as invalid.

Is anyone able to shed some light on this?

I'm fairly new to virtualmin and am learning as I go

Cheers

Howdy -- sorry to hear you're having DNS issues!

One thing you may want to do is to restart BIND. It's possible your new records just aren't updated in BIND yet, which a restart could solve.

If that doesn't help --

It sounds like you're using Virtualmin GPL there. You can get help for Virtualmin GPL, but the best place to do that is using the Forums. We monitor the Forums, along with lots of wonderful folks in the community!

My suggestion is to create a new Forum thread, and there, could you share a screenshot of the Server Configuration -> DNS Records screen for that particular domain?

That will help us all do some troubleshooting on the DNS records your domain.

Also, is your domain configured to use your Virtualmin server for DNS? That is, are the nameserver records at your registrar pointed at your Virtualmin server, or at a third party? That's another thing you'd want to mention when creating that new Forum thread.

Thanks!
