adding 127.0.0.1 to the dns server

hello - i see the following message:

Virtualmin is configured to setup DNS zones, but this system is not setup to use itself as a DNS server. Either add 127.0.0.1 to the list of DNS servers, or turn off the BIND feature on the module config page. It appears that DHCP is being used to dynamically configure your network interfaces, which can cause the DNS servers to be set based on settings provided by the DHCP server. Using a static IP address is strongly recommended with Virtualmin.

but when i click the link on the page, i am taken to the "Hostname and DNS Client" -- "Dns Client Options" page.

under DNS servers i see 8.8.8.8 so i add the 127.0.0.1 hit "save" and next page "apply configuration" yet it keeps reverting back to 8.8.8.8

please advise me on what to try next.

Howdy,

While that should work, does it work if you manually edit that file and add that line?

That is, if you edit /etc/resolv.conf, and add this line:

nameserver 127.0.0.1

Does that allow the Re-Check Config to pass?
