If you use Hotmail, Live, Outlook, etc. email, please add info@virtualmin.com to your address book

Howdy all,

If you use any Microsoft mail service for email (Hotmail, Live, Outlook, Office 365, etc.), and you want to receive notification emails of any sort from Virtualmin.com; please add us to your address book (we send from "info@virtualmin.com", and "sales@virtualmin.com" for order details).

Microsoft had blocked our server from sending any mail to their servers, probably due to the history of IP address from before we were living on it (it's certainly nothing we've done, since we don't send any email that hasn't been explicitly requested, and we have never sent marketing emails, at all). I have worked through their various hoops to get our IP un-blocked, so, hopefully you'll receive email from us in the future. But, they are still rate limiting and treating our server as suspect...so, maybe it's best if y'all use other mail services (Google, Yahoo, and many others have never given us any trouble with delivery, and we don't exist on any DNSBLs).

And, of course, if you don't want to receive any email from us, please use the notifications page ("Notifications" under "Account") to unsubscribe rather than reporting our emails as spam. I'm guessing that even a tiny number of spam reports would get us blocked again. So, please don't do that; it's been a time consuming and annoying process to get unlisted. I have a hard enough time staying on top of emails without having hundreds of bounce reports to deal with every day! ;-)

Finally, if you have any Microsoft email address and have had notifications setup with us in the past, those have probably been disabled or deleted due to bounces (we can't keep sending email to bouncing addresses, as that is also considered a spammy trait). You'll need to re-enable them...they may not work very well, since we're being rate-limited to Microsoft servers, but they should be working again in some fashion.

This request applies, really, to pretty much any mail service...if you add us to your address book, I think our mail is more likely to make it safely to you in all of the major email providers (I've been led to believe that's the case, anyway). But, since Microsoft is the only service who has blocked every email from us, they take priority!

Thanks for reading. Apologies for the rant. I'm just grumpy because of how much time I've wasted on this problem that could have spent on doing cool stuff.

Regards,

Joe

Microsoft's outlook/live etc is one hell of a service. I understand the pain of getting IPs unblocked. I had to get 15 of them unblocked. Still the mails from those IPs goto Spam on outlook. Some IPs have been unblocked for more than a year now and have never been to any DNSBL from the time I own them.

Microsoft should either make the process of unblocking and whitelisting easier & faster or shouldn't be this strict
