EDIT: Virtualmin Failed to open SSL key at startup. How can I manually create them?

Old Subject: Virtualmin wont start after update to 1.830 Hi,

After todays update to the newest virtualmin version I'm unable to connect to virtualmin in my browser but I'm able to connect to usermin. I'm using a Ubuntu Server LTS 16.04.1. Any idea how I can search for errors via the command line?

Thanks in advance!

Edit 2: Looks like my ssl key is somehow broken:

  • root@kelteseth ~ # /etc/webmin/start
  • Starting Webmin server in /usr/share/webmin
  • Failed to open SSL key /etc/webmin/kelteseth.net.key at /usr/share/webmin/miniserv.pl line 4380.

Any idea how to resolve this issue?

Edit 3: Looks like my certs are empty. Any idea how to created them via the command line?

Edit 4: So my steps to reproduce I guess are

  • Manually updateing Let's encrypt cert. (Somehow didt work, dont know why)
  • Rebooting. Now webmin and apache2 wont start because they cannot find a valid SSL cert
  • SSLCertificateFile: file '/home/kelteseth/ssl.cert' does not exist or is empty
