CentOS 5 End Of Life is coming on March 31!

Howdy all,

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up about the imminent end of life of CentOS/RHEL 5 on March 31. That's three weeks away.

We will be removing support for new installs of CentOS 5 within the next few days (as it would be dangerous to be installing a new CentOS 5 system today), and our repositories will discontinue serving updates for CentOS 5 sometime soon after the end of the month.

If you have CentOS 5 systems in production, you need to begin migrating to a newer version soon. We recommend CentOS users upgrade to CentOS 7, but Virtualmin backups will generally restore reasonably well on any supported distro and version (so if you wanted to cross-upgrade to Ubuntu 16.04 or Debian 8 that would also work).

Note that CentOS 5 does not have any official in-place upgrade path, so you will need to plan to backup and restore your domains and data rather than simply upgrading in-place (CentOS 7 to CentOS 8 will reportedly have an in-place upgrade path using yum/dnf).

Cheers,

Joe
