Renaming Virtual Host and Let'sEncrypt Issue

Hello,

I have been using Virtualmin and Webmin GPL for several years, and I think it was a long time ago the last time that I needed to use the Forum, which reflects how well everything has been running with these amazing pieces of software.

I have discovered the feature to rename a virtual server, and find it very useful, together with the fact that I normally do not host my own DNS server anymore, so I have my domains names pointing to my IP, and just by creating a virtual server with that domain on Virtualmin everything runs smoothly.

I have realized one issue with the rename feature this time that I don't know if it is related to this or not, but I can not manage to solve by myself.

The issue is as follows:

I needed to move a CMS running in domain1 to another domain, domain2. As I no longer needed domain1, I just renamed the server to domain2, and everything was working fine, until I tried to update the Let'sEncrypt Certificates to domain2.

When I try to do this, I get an error telling me that:

ssl.CertificateError: hostname 'www.domain2.com' doesn't match either of 'domain1.com', 'www.domain1.com'

I am using Virtualmin 6.02 with Debian 9.

I can not find any redirect, nor any reference to domain1 anywhere?!

I don't know if it is related to https://www.virtualmin.com/node/52626

Many thanks and kind regards from Spain,

Alberto

Hello,

Instead of updating the certificate, try and make a complete new one for domain2.

Hello DonX,

Many thanks for your reply.

I think, but not completely sure, that I am requesting a new certificate:

Server Configuration -> Manage SSL Certificates -> Let's Encrypt -> Request Certificate

Before I did Create Signing Request with new domain name, which I don't know if it was necessary or not.

Many thanks and kind regards from Spain,

Alberto

Hello DonX,

Many thanks for that!

I was able to solve the issue doing as they suggest on the thread you sent:

I created a self-certificate and then I could use Let's encrypt.

Many thanks for your help on this issue and kindest regards from Spain,

Alberto
