CentOS 4.4 Install Problem and Question

I've just installed CentOS 4.4 on our server and am proceeding to install Virtualmin Pro on it. Forgetting to read this:

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Red Hat Enterprise Linux and CentOS up2date

On Red Hat Enterprise Linux and CentOS systems the up2date system is used to install some components from the system repository. Please run up2date (or the up2date GUI client) at least once prior to running the Virtualmin Professional Installer. If you do not, the installer will stop when the standard component installation phase is reached, and will require human intervention.

http://www.virtualmin.com/support/documentation/virtualmin-admin-guide/c... +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I went ahead with VMpro install.sh. At "resolving dependencies..", the install process halted.

I did a Ctrl C to terminate the install process. Then "yum update" before trying install.sh again.

Unfortunately, the VMpro install process again got stuck at "resolving dependencies...".

My question is: Does it matter if I use "yum update" instead of "up2date"? Is this the reason why the install process had problem?

If "yum update" is same as "up2date", then Joe, perhaps you'd want to update your Administrator Guide above.

Thanks.

Don't worry about it. "Yum update" works as well.

I reinstalled CentOS 4.4 and this time, I did the yum update first before VMpro's install.sh.

Waited a while during the "Installing dependencies using command...." part, but at least this time I could see the server's harddisk and CPU were running and doing something.

Now going set up a few virtual servers to test VMpro on CentOS 4.4... fingers crossed.
