postfix differ warning

Hi Joe ;) how are you? I have a little issue with postfix. I get this messages when i restart postfix.

Sep 25 11:50:54 outbreak-eve postfix/postfix-script: warning: /var/spool/postfix/lib/libnss_compat-2.3.6.so and /lib/libnss_compat-2.3.6.so differ Sep 25 11:50:54 outbreak-eve postfix/postfix-script: warning: /var/spool/postfix/lib/libnss_dns-2.3.6.so and /lib/libnss_dns-2.3.6.so differ Sep 25 11:50:54 outbreak-eve postfix/postfix-script: warning: /var/spool/postfix/lib/libnss_nis-2.3.6.so and /lib/libnss_nis-2.3.6.so differ Sep 25 11:52:29 outbreak-eve postfix/postfix-script: warning: /var/spool/postfix/lib/libnss_compat-2.3.6.so and /lib/libnss_compat-2.3.6.so differ Sep 25 11:52:29 outbreak-eve postfix/postfix-script: warning: /var/spool/postfix/lib/libnss_dns-2.3.6.so and /lib/libnss_dns-2.3.6.so differ Sep 25 11:52:29 outbreak-eve postfix/postfix-script: warning: /var/spool/postfix/lib/libnss_nis-2.3.6.so and /lib/libnss_nis-2.3.6.so differ

I already copied the newer files over the old ones but after a few days i noticed the same warning again. Do you know that problem? I think it is nothing serious the mail system works well. regards Martin

Hey Martin,

I'm not sure. I guess updates to those files outside of the chroot makes them stale. It shouldn't happen every few days forever, since those files shouldn't be updated very frequently. ;-)

This is a quirk on Debian/Ubuntu where Postfix runs chrooted (which the author of Postfix doesn't recommend, so we don't either...but we don't mess around with OS defaults on standard packages, so we leave it living in the chroot).

I would have thought that the Debian scripts would manage keeping those files up to date. But maybe it's a manual process of some sort.
