The Samba 'panic action' script

The Samba 'panic action' script, /usr/share/samba/panic-action,
was called for PID 15260 ().
 
This means there was a problem with the program, such as a segfault.
However, the executable could not be found for process 15260.
It may have died unexpectedly, or you may not have permission to debug
the process.

I have several emails saying this same thing, different PIDs. What's causing this?

Howdy,

Well, I haven't run into that before, though it sounds like it's saying something isn't working right regarding Samba... are you hoping to run Samba on this server?

If so, how much RAM do you have? You can determine that with the command "free -m".

You also may want to review the various logs in /var/log/ around the time you're receiving those messages, as those may give you some additional clues as to what's going on.

Hi andreychek:

Samba, to the best of my knowledge, is something for Windows. I don't run anything exclusively for that OS. All I know is that's a new "error" being sent to me, and having things amiss on my server sort of troubles me. I'm a few months away from opening my site up for production and wld like to clear these issues up befire that happens.

I have plenty of RAM, so that's not an issue.

As for the /var/log/samba/, I'll have to wait until I get another email as I deleted those others.

And one other thing, andreychek, I'm still getting this:

How do I get rid of that opendkim? I wrote here about this before but never really got any help with it. And this came about when I clicked Email Messages -> DomainKeys Identified Mail and tried to install it. Sorry, friend. I'm just having a few issues with Virtualmin that I'd love to get resolved. Sure do appreciate all your help too. Thank you.

Howdy,

Well, let's deal with one problem at a time here :-)

It sounds like you may have the Samba service installed/running.

A good place to start would be to go into Webmin -> Servers -> Bootup and Shutdown, and to stop the Samba service.

Once you do that, do those notices you're seeing stop?
