Sure they lose money on every sale, but they'll make it up in volume! ;-)
That's not actually an outlandishly cheap price--it's a good price, but there are bargain basement operations that are cheaper. Shared hosting in an efficient shop can definitely run profitably and reliably for a few bucks a month. There are hundreds...maybe thousands of them out there doing so.
It is not our place to question a good deal. As long as folks are happy with the service, it's win-win-win (host, customer, and me!). ;-)
