Local and Relayed Mail not Working

Hi, I'm a newbie on this subject...

I installed Virtualmin ("deafault") and then the "Mail Relay Plugin" (according to your instructions: http://www.virtualmin.com/documentation/id,mail_relaying_with_virtualmin...)

When I try to create a server i get the following message: "Failed to create virtual server : Local mail delivery and relaying cannot both be enabled for the same domain"

How can I resolve this?

Best regards, Gusbox

You need to un-check the box "Accept mail for domain?" in the "Enabled features" section of the creation form. You can't have mail both delivered locally and relayed for the same domain ..

Hi Jamie,

Many thanks for your support ! I unchecked the Mail for domain enabled option and checked the Relay mail for domain.

I'm still sending without problems, but i'm not receiving the replys or new messages. And the messages are not return to the sender with any error !!!

Regards, Gusbox

Howdy -- yeah, setting up email and relaying can be a complex topic! We'd suggest reviewing the email logs in /var/log/maillog when things aren't working, those logs can help track down what's going on. You can see where emails are going, and errors and warnings will be displayed in there.

We'd also suggest reviewing the documentation again to make sure you have all those settings in place.

However, the support area here is for Virtualmin Pro customers; if you're using Virtualmin GPL, you'll want to use the forums for obtaining support. There's a lot of wonderful folks over there, and we monitor them as well.

After reviewing your logs, if you still have questions, feel free to post those in the forums. Thanks!
